Brave is a move about a princess named Merida. Merida is a strong willed women who has many similarities to the Greek goddess Artemis. She does not want to be married, potentially ever. Adding on, she is a fantastic huntress, and hunts with a bow and arrows. This movie has many ties into Greek myths from the past. One specific Greek myth that is tied into this movie is the myth about Callisto. Callisto and Zeus had a child, which enraged Artemis because Callisto was supposed to be an ally of hers. Due to this, Artemis turned Callisto into a bear, which made her unfit to be a mother as wild animal. It was said that her own son almost killed her while hunting because he was unaware the bear he was hunting was his mother. Zeus saved her from†¦show more content†¦Although this is not completely similar, there is still the aspect of Artemis and Merida saving their mother in some way. Disney s Hercules has many similarities with the myth about Heracles and his twelve labors, as well as differences. One of the major differences with this movie and the myth is that in the movie, Hera loves Hercules. This is a very important difference because in the myth Hera is the reason Hercules has to complete the twelve labors, but in the movie it is to prove that he is a true hero. In the myth Hercules has to preform the twelve labors in order to become immortal. Hera did not want this, so she sent two serpents down to Hercules as an infant, however, because of his strength he was said to have strangled them. In the movie there is a similar event, however, Hades is the person who sent the serpents. Hercules grabbed the serpents around the neck and hit them together a few times, and then flung them into the sky. The difference in this I think is because Disney tries to avoid taboo subjects such as murder in their movies as much as possible. This also added a bit of humor to the movie, which is how Disney likes their movies to be seen as.
